Princess-queen-angel-butterfly - what's it all about?

Hi,

I've been interested in the pattern of how people choose their on-line names. Specifically, this princess-queen-angel-butterfly business. I'm sure it's some part of youth culture I missed being an old lady. i was going to change my name to just that and see how it felt but I don't have enough name changes to go back if I want to. did uthose specific titles come from somewhere? popular songs? books? tv show? I was thinking the ilusions to royalty were either people into sci fi or maybe something about how many Britts are on this board, but what's whith the butterfly thing?

I think people just love themselves a bit much

I personally just like the word "princess". But actually, I'm ready to change it to something else, but don't have the money to go Premium. I'm not superly creative with names either, though. But anyway, that's why "princess" is in my current Zone name.

I think itt's generally just for the cutesy factor. Aww! An Angel fairy princess! How sweet!
I kinda like butterfly though, just because it's been used weirdly or ironically in enough cultural references to make it interesting. Also, it's a pretty word.

agree with what post 2 and 4 said. a name like that can get attention, you know.
not much for the butterfly though. i don't think it's the same thing as for angels princesses and queens, sweeties beauties and things like that. lol
i was suggested to have a name like that on here. lol. just can't see a name like that good for me

It was interesting when name changes were instituted on here, how many members of royalty or angels did suddenly appear among us.

observe these names keanly. only women are getting tempted to name themselves as queens? princess? angels? silkies? kandies? and so on. because of these fantacies, I feel its being hard to recollect their real names though.

i think i know why guys don't name themselves as queens and princesses. lmao. seriously though, there are a couple of male angels. but the princess queen angel sweetie are mostly girls

I noticed this pattern a long time ago, and remember having a similar private discussion with a couple friends. I just never thought of posting it as a board topic. LOL.

I agree with Rdfreak and Resonant. People think it makes them sound impressive, or cutesy. Maybe it's an attempt to get guys to look at their profiles. I think many girls, especially younger ones, have a thing with princesses and queens. And angels have been a huge pop culture phenomenon for quite a few years.

In a few cases, names with angel/princess/queen may be a sign of conceit. But in others, I just think in general it's hard to come up with a user name. As for myself, I am not very creative. But I'm glad to see someone question this trend because it amuses me as well. I also am amused with sexy, beauty, and star used in names.

As for the guys, the most popular thing to do seems to be to put DJ before the name.

And then there are fans. Both guys and girls seem to like to let us know who they are a fan of. I have been guilty of this myself before my latest name change.

I think in most of the DJ names, it's because the user is into internet broadcasting, and others know him/her by that DJ name, so they use it here. And, I hadn't even noticed the pattern of names telling us what people are a fan of, but once you said it, you're absolutely right. LOL.
